Actor, producer, and now hotelier, Brad Pitt, is the latest celebrity to enter the hospitality industry by building a luxury resort in Croatia.
The father of six has settled on the small town of Zablaće near Šibenik for a new resort he plans to build, which will include a luxury hotel, golf course, restaurants, and shops. The development is estimated to cost $1.5 billion.
A Croatian architect working on the project, Nikola Bašić, joined the actor on a site tour. He’s known for creating Sea Organ, in Croatia’s Zadar. A huge staircase sculpture that plays music created by waves as they flow through its subterranean tubes.
The plan includes building schools and a clinic, too. Pitt also toured the Šibenik,s Unesco-designated St. James Cathedral.
Rumblings of the project, currently named “Barabriga” began when reports emerged that the star made a trip to the site last week, and that Swiss-based fund TFI Holding has invested $70 million in the project. So it may be possible to stay at a Brad Pitt-owned hotel sooner than you’d think.
