Val Thorens has been crowned «Best Ski Resort in the World» for the 3rd time in 4 years.
The World Ski Awards is the most prestigious awards programme in the ski tourism industry. For this 4th edition held in Kitzbühel (Austria), a total of 1. 600.000 votes were made online from 85 different countries. Winning the title of «Best Ski Resort in the World» is the highest distinction possible for a ski resort anywhere across the globe.
Val Thorens successfully differentiated itself from the other internationally-recognised French resorts.
Also competing for the prestigious title were famous resorts such as Kitzbühel (2015 winner), Zermatt, Gstaad, Aspen, Vail, Ishgl, St Anton, Beaver Creek, Saas Fee, Laax, Cervinia, Val Gardena, Cortina, Niseko, Shiga Kogen, Courchevel, Chamonix, Tignes, Val d’Isère …
INVEST FOR THE GOOD OF EVERYONE
Val Thorens has set aside a budget of 839 million euros to carry out a 10-year action plan between 2010 and 2020, to include:
– Innovations: The 1st resort to equip its ski area with free WIFI in 2011, Val Thorens comes up with new digital innovations every year. This season sees the resort launch the SkiFlux system, which will provide skiers with realtime information on how busy the slopes are.
– Installing ultra-modern, ultra-comfortable ski lifts.
– Creating new experiences on the ski area and in the resort, such as the mega zip wire and the Funslope.
These honours are the result of a common vision and values that are shared by an entire
resort, brought together through the «Live United» state of mind.
