Croatia, our beautiful country known for its stunning coastline, historic cities and vibrant culture, has become a popular destination for travelers worldwide. However, the influx of tourists often leads to overcrowded hotspots like Dubrovnik and Split, leaving many visitors with a less than ideal experience. As a native Croatian, I invite you to explore the lesser-known parts of my stunning country, where you can truly embrace the Croatian philosophy of “pomalo” – take it easy and go slow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Explore the hidden gems<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Croatia has diverse landscapes, from the azure Adriatic Sea to the lush green forests of the inland. While the walled city of Dubrovnik and the ancient town of Split are mesmerizing they are just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG, believe me! Venture off the beaten path to discover the unspoiled beauty of the Istrian Peninsula<\/strong>, known for its rolling hills, vineyards and charming medieval towns like Motovun<\/strong> and Groznjan.<\/strong> Kvarner bay<\/strong> with amazing islands like Krk, Cres, Losinj, Rab<\/strong> and many more is an absolute gem. Or head to the island of Vis,<\/strong> the furthest inhabited island off the Croatian mainland, with its pristine beaches, crystal clear waters and a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.<\/p>\n

In the heart of Croatia lies the region of Slavonia,<\/strong> often overlooked by tourists. here you can explore Nature Park Kopacki Rit<\/strong>, one of the largest wetlands in Europe, or visit the historic city of Osijek,<\/strong> with its baroque beautiful architecture and large avenues.<\/p>\n

Embrace the slow travel: Croatians have a saying “pomalo”, which translates to “take it easy”<\/h3>\n

This philosophy is deeply ingrained in our culture and its the key to truly experiencing our country. Instead of trying to cram as many sights as possible into a few days, take your time and get lost in the local culture, savor the delicious cuisine, and soak up the stunning landscapes. Rent a bike and explore the countryside, take a leisurely stroll through the local markets, or simply sit at the cafe and watch the world go by. This slow pace of travel allows you to connect with the local people, understand their way of life and create meaningful memories.<\/p>\n

The best time to visit Croatia is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) and fall (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and crowds are smaller.
