In the world of skiing, there are thousands of ski resorts on all continents. Some are big, some are small, some renowned internationally, some for locals only, and some simply beautiful.<\/a> The beautiful ones seem to be many, but there are some that are quite memorable in their beauty. One of those is Park City in Utah, USA. One of the best ski resorts in North America.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Skiers can take two towns as their starting points – Canyons and Park City.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These two areas are connected by a gondola lift<\/strong> and owned by the mighty corporation Vail Resorts, which invested about USD 50 million into equipment and new ski lifts last year. It is best known for the Olympic Games of 2002, when Janica Kosteli\u0107 won her gold medals, and <\/strong>for the Sundance Film Festival.<\/strong> Skiers love it for its long and wide slopes, powder tree skiing and the great little western style town full of saloons, restaurants and stores.<\/p>\n

Besides skiing, there is a lot more offered in terms of day activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Olympic Museum is an active center for winter sports where you can try bobsledding on the original track. Nordic skiing is very popular, the ice-skating rink, and even tire tube sledding down the neat slopes. The neighboring resort of Deer Valley is also among the best in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The evenings offer no less.<\/strong> Excellent restaurants, bourbon distilleries (some you can even reach on skis), and small breweries are just an intro into partying in any of the saloons on the main street. The No Name Saloon<\/strong> is a must for a late night outing.<\/p>\n

Park City hosts various events<\/strong> throughout the year. Definitely, the most famous one is the Sundance Film Festival<\/strong> that takes place over the last 10 days of January<\/a>. Skiing is best then, because the slopes are mostly empty. The Hollywood crowd does not ski, so you\u2019ll sooner be alone on the slope than get a table at a good restaurant.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For winter sports aficionados the most important event is the Freestyle World Cup<\/strong> in early February. On the Olympic fields, the world\u2019s craziest skiers perform stunts and, unlike with the \u201cserious skiing\u201d, this entire weekend gives the town a festival atmosphere.<\/strong><\/p>\n

September is the time for a big balloon festival.<\/strong> Autumn Aloft gathers hundreds of hot air balloons that take off in the morning and come back at night, which gives you a particularly impressive view of fires in the air above the mountains.<\/p>\n

Park City is about a half-hour drive away from the Salt Lake City international airport<\/strong>, to which there are direct flights from Europe. There are numerous shuttles to the ski resorts, and the towns and resorts are well connected by public transportation so there is no need to rent a car.<\/p>\n
