For those others who wish to immerse themselves more deeply into the unique intimacy of this city away from the tourists, this is the right choice.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The French cultural center<\/strong> is located in the flashy interior of what used to be<strong> Casino Venier.<\/strong> It is situated next to the Ponte dei Bareteri along the eponymous canal. The center is an example of 18th century decoration, the time when <strong>Casanova<\/strong> lived and gambled in Venice.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Santa Maria della Salute<\/strong> is a grandiose church dominating the entrance to <strong>Canal Grande.<\/strong> It is a favorite among the locals, if there still are any. The first Jewish ghetto dates back to<strong> 1516<\/strong>. Thousands of Jews were forced to move to this part of the city. There is this one, and the old ghetto. Narrow houses with low ceilings were constructed so as to take as many residents as possible. The neighbourhood also has two synagogues that are still active.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Museum of Music<\/strong> \u2013 Next to the renaissance <strong>Scuola Grande di San Rocco<\/strong> is the interesting and free Museo della Musica. A good collection of instruments and violin exhibition, as well as everything about the life of Antonio Vivaldi, are a must see for all music lovers.<\/li>\n<li>Every neighbourhood has its <strong>Campo<\/strong>. That&#8217;s what the locals call a square or piazza.
