What to see in Salzburg – Smack in the center, so it’s no coincidence that it has a special energy<\/strong>. Tourists love it, so in the old part of the city there is practically no one else but them.<\/p>\n

The attractions are numerous. Salzburg is not big, but is dedicated to tourism so it’s easy to stay for a few days and see and experience something new every day. The city and its surroundings abound with a diverse and interesting offer, so let’s start from the beginning.<\/p>\n

Salzburger Card is the best option to cover costs of museums and public transportation with no worry.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0What to see in Salzburg<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hohensalzburg<\/strong> \u2013 Impressive castle that has made this city rich, and thus famous all over Europe. It is visible from every part of the city, and can be reached by a funicular. The view of the heart of the city and the surrounding peaks is amazing.<\/p>\n

DomQuartier<\/strong> \u2013 For centuries, Salzburg was ruled by prince-archbishops who were the spiritual and secular rulers of the city. For the first time in 200 years, the entire complex of the residence, cathedral and the Benedictine Abbey of St. Peter is open to the public.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mozart’s birth house<\/strong> \u2013 The house in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on 27 January 1756 is today one of the most frequented museums in the world. \u00a0In the new permanent exhibition spanning three floors, visitors can learn details of Mozart\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Moenchsberg<\/strong> \u2013 The hill with the most stunning view of the city and the castle. You can reach the top by an elevator located by the entrance to the underground garage. The Museum of Modern Art with a lovely terrace is a good spot to have coffee with a view.<\/p>\n

Salzach<\/strong> \u2013 A river that can be navigated to experience the city from a different point of view. In addition to the boats, a new attraction is the amphibious bus.<\/strong> For the first part of the excursion, it travels down the river and then gets out and takes the road to Schloss Leopoldskron, the location of the movie \u201cThe Sound of Music\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mirabell Palace and gardens<\/strong> – Downtown wonderful floral gardens are one of the best known spots for photographs of newlyweds, not just from Austria but from all over the world. It is not uncommon to see newlyweds who have brought their clothes from the other side of the world to have their photos taken in this park.<\/p>\n

\u00a0What to see in Salzburg and nearby<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hangar-7<\/strong> – Ultra modern museum of the Red Bull company. Formula 1 race cars and various others, aircraft of all kinds, everything about Felix Baumgartner who jumped from space, an excellent restaurant, coffee bar and store. Free entry and parking. Some 10 minutes away from the downtown.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Unterbergbahn<\/strong> \u2013 There are few cities in the world that can boast having such a hill on the outskirts. 1800 m high peak from which you can see \u201chalf\u201d of Germany and Austria. The cable car to the top takes about 10 minutes. It\u2019s good to watch the weather forecast beforehand because the peak can easily get lost in a cloud. A view to remember.<\/p>\n

Stiegl Brauwelt<\/strong> \u2013 One of the best known breweries in Austria, Stiegl, opened its door into an interesting interactive museum of the history of beer. You can see all of the production stages and taste different kinds of beer. The yard has a good restaurant with local specialties and excellent ribs.<\/p>\n
