Commonly called Cape Point<\/strong>, this 77.50-sq-km section of Table Mountain National Park includes awesome scenery, fantastic walks, great birdwatching and often deserted beaches. Take the Flying Dutchman Funicular, which runs up from beside the restaurant to the souvenir kiosk next to the old lighthouse (which dates from 1860). A 1km trail runs from here to its successor. Make your next stop at Boulders Beach<\/strong> near Simon\u2019s Town, home to one of the few land-based penguin colonies in the world.<\/p>\n

Table Mountain<\/strong> is the iconic place to see and to visit. Come early in the morning before tour buses. Take the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway<\/strong> to the top and then take in a natural beauty while sipping on a cappuccino. The Table Mountain Cafe opens at 8.30am and offers great coffee and a selection of breakfast options.<\/p>\n

The most northern and longest of the beaches are Clifton<\/strong> 1st and 2nd. Clifton 3rd is the gay beach, though plenty of straight folks frequent it, too, while Clifton 4th is popular with families. Before hopping in the sea, remember that the water comes straight from the Antarctic, so swimming here is freezing. Clifton Beach<\/strong> is the place where you\u2019ll see brave locals splashing in the waves even though water temperatures hover at a brisk 16 C degrees.<\/p>\n

The CBD<\/strong> is the heart of the Mother City. Long Street<\/strong> is its major artery. Running all the way from the Cape Town Convention Centre, cutting through the middle of the city, and ending at Kloof Street, Long Street is a major part of the city\u2019s street culture.
\nDuring the day the street is a full with people visiting the interesting shops and caf\u00e9 that line the street, and when the sun drops behind the mountain the activity intensifies around the street\u2019s many restaurants, bars, and clubs.<\/p>\n
