Only a mile from Rovinj downtown lies the beautiful peninsula of Zlatni rt (Golden Cape). Unique in many aspects, it is home to a protected park forest of impressively large trees. On one side is the pebble bay of Lone with a view of two of the best Croatian hotels, Monte Mulini and Lone. The beach is frequented not only by hotel guests, but by others as well as it is convenient for families with children. On the other side the beaches are less frequented, and some of them are rocky. Across from Zlatni rt is the island of Katarina. The quarry at the very top of the peninsula is popular with free climbers. The beaches are considered to be among the most beautiful and best organised on the Adriatic.
