United Airlines has launched its new three-times weekly nonstop seasonal service between Split and its hub at Newark/New York, celebrating the arrival of the inaugural flight into Split Saint Jerome Airport today. United is the only airline to offer direct flights between Split and the U.S. and is the only carrier serving Croatia from the U.S.
The new service is launching as United marks the 5th anniversary of serving Croatia, joining the airline’s existing seasonal daily nonstop service between Dubrovnik and Newark/New York, originally introduced in 2021. In total, United is operating up to two nonstop flights per day from Croatia to the U.S. for Summer 2026.

“We are excited to launch United’s first-ever nonstop service between Split and the United States, further expanding our network in Croatia,” said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, United Airlines. “For the first time, our customers in Croatia can enjoy the convenience of a direct service between Split Airport and the U.S., with seamless connections via our Newark/New York hub to more than 50 destinations across the Americas, while U.S. travellers can more easily fly to Split and explore historic highlights such as the ancient Roman Diocletian’s Palace, experience the vibrant atmosphere of the Riva promenade, or take a short trip to the nearby Dalmatian islands.”
“This year we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Split Airport/Saint Jerome, and we are immensely proud that this important milestone is crowned by the launch of the first direct intercontinental route connecting Split with New York and the United States,” said Josip Čorić, CEO Split Airport Ltd. “The introduction of this service confirms the strategic position of Split Airport as the gateway to Dalmatia. In 2026, we are connected to 26 countries and markets, offering a total of 85 direct destinations, which is the strongest testament to our continuous growth and expanding international connectivity.”

The new service between Split and Newark/New York is part of United Airlines’ wider Summer 2026 schedule, underlining its position as the leading U.S. carrier across the Atlantic, with more destinations than any other U.S. airline. In Summer 2026, United will be the only U.S. airline to fly nonstop flights to four new destinations from its hub in Newark/New York: Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland and Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The airline is also adding its first service between Washington/Dulles and Reykjavik, Iceland, as well as new nonstop year-round daily service from Newark/New York to Seoul, South Korea.
As the leader in service from the U.S. across the Atlantic, United is continuing that momentum by serving a total of 44 destinations across the Atlantic in 2026 and offering nearly 770 weekly transatlantic roundtrips in Summer 2026. In addition to four new destinations, in 2026 United will continue to serve eight destinations from its largest expansion ever last summer, including seasonal service to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island, Portugal; Faro, Portugal; and continue the already year-round service from Puerto Escondido, Mexico and Kaohsiung.
Across the globe, in 2026 United will offer up to almost 930 daily flights to and from over 150 international destinations – including 43 that no other U.S. network carrier serves.
