4 reasons why you need to visit Croatia this summer

An easy-to-reach destination offering visitors beautiful cities and stunning nature spots, it’s no surprise that year after year Brits continue to flock to Croatia. And with tourist visits to Croatia at an all-time high (18,9 million tourists visited Croatia in 2022), this sunny destination remains one of the best holidays abroad for sun-seekers. Planning your next summer getaway? Here are 4 reasons why you need to visit Croatia this Summer of 2023:

Beaches

Dip your toes into the sparkling Adriatic on one of Croatia’s many pebble beaches and sandy shores. As well as the most common islands of Hvar and Brač, beach bums can get their thrill by heading to the island of Solta – the secluded bay that can only be reached by boat or bicycle. That being said, Hvar and Brač are still very worth the visit; a popular (but still unappreciated) spot is Brac’s Zlatni Rat, also called the Golden Cape… there are no guesses as to why!

National parks

Contrary to popular belief, Croatia isn’t all beaches. This beautiful country also offers tourists the chance to explore the marvellous Croatian outdoors. With 8 nature parks that’ll take keen hikers along waterfalls and around lakes, walking in Croatia is a must for any type of holiday-goer. In fact, with walking opportunities that also wind around olive groves, through Venetian castles, and cough you up onto hidden lakes, you don’t even need to pack your walking boots to enjoy Croatia’s natural environment.

Festivals

Did you know that Croatia has been voted Europe’s best destination for music festivals? Well, any country that offers festival lovers the chance to boogie to their favourite artists on beautiful beaches is sure to be a hit. While the Croatian festival scene is known for Outlook Festival, Dimensions Festival and Ultra Europe, there are plenty of other great events in the country that take place all throughout the year. Better still, the drinks are a whole lot cheaper than at British festivals! Not to mention the guaranteed incredible sunny weather…

Food

After a few days of relaxing on the beaches, hiking trails in Croatian national parks, or even seeing your favourite band perform live, chances are you’ll be hungry for some good grub. And Croatia excels in this too! Croatia is known for its tasty fish, meat and vegetables that are prepared in the traditional way with olive oil on wood-fired grills. And that’s not all; Croatian cuisine also offers tourists a wealth of exquisite delicacies like prosciutto and truffles, and all for affordable prices!

With a rich history and culture, unforgettable nature and beaches, and even mouth-wateringly tasty food, there’s a reason Croatia is now one of the most visited destinations in the Mediterranean – and continues to draw in the crowds.
