Skiing safety is priority: Alta Badia

We care about you

Skiing safety is total priority in Alta Badia for the 2020/21 season, which starts on Saturday, December 5 is ensuring safety during the winter holidays, in all services offered. A large skiable area, modern and fast ski lifts that reduce travel times, family-run and small to medium-sized accommodation facilities are just some of the elements that will contribute to making holidays safe, reducing the risk of infection with Covid-19.

Alta Badia (South Tyrolean Dolomites/Italy)

– As it is well known, many people decided to spend their summer holidays in the mountains precisely because of the possibility offered by this environment to avoid all sorts of social gatherings and practice numerous outdoor activities. In this respect, also during the winter time, mountains can give skiers moments of absolute pleasure, in complete safety.

 The Ski Area

Social distancing on the slopes of Alta Badia is easier because the ski area offers a large skiing surface in hectares, in relation to the number of skiers transported by the ski lifts. Skiing safety for skiers who choose Alta Badia find 130 km of large and perfectly groomed slopes from which you can reach by ski other 500 km of slopes around the Sella Group. Furthermore, the Alta Badia ski area boasts many short and fast ski lifts in the entire valley. As many as 41 ski lifts are chairlifts and surface lifts, which entail being transported while always remaining in the open air. The covered cable cars, on the other hand, will accommodate the number of people established by current regulations, who must cover their nose and mouth, and they will travel at the highest possible speed in order to reduce the time skiers spend in a closed environment. Thanks to modern and cutting-edge ski lifts, with a high hourly capacity, the risk of queues at valley stations is considerably reduced. In addition, there are in total 21 access points to the slopes, which allow an excellent distribution of skiers at the main ski lifts and among the five towns of Alta Badia, which can be reached by ski. Furthermore, the majority of the accommodation facilities in the valley are close to the ski lifts and this favours access to the slopes while avoiding the risk of gatherings at the ski bus stops. The strategic position on the Sellaronda offers skiers the opportunity to leave their car at their accommodation facility and use one of the many access points to enter the ski area. Skiing safety is our priority.

EASIER ONLINE PURCHASE OF THE SKI PASS

An important opportunity for visitors is to purchase their ski pass easily from home, on the website of Dolomiti Superski (www.dolomitisuperski.com) or using the Dolomiti Superski APP, after registering in MyDolomiti. This service will be further improved to make it even more attractive and usable by more people. After purchasing the ski pass (all types of ski passes can be bought, with the exception of free-of-charge passes), clients receive a voucher and then, once arrived in Alta Badia, they can go to the pick-up boxes, which are available 24 hours a day and are located next to the ski pass office in each town. In this way, potential queues are avoided and clients can pick up their pass at any time, avoiding any kind of contact.

MOUNTAIN HUTS AND ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES

Alta Badia boasts a large number of mountain huts on the slopes. All of them are family-run and offer table service and large sun terraces. This helps keeping the necessary order in the common areas while giving clients the possibility to enjoy great food, in complete safety.

Most accommodation facilities in Alta Badia are family-run. They are small and medium-sized facilities, where it is easier to constantly monitor the situation and compliance with the safety measures envisaged by the regulations of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.

SKI SCHOOLS, RENTALS, STORES, BARS AND RESTAURANTS

Great attention to safety measures will be paid in all the other categories of services as well. Regulations provide for the organization of access areas so that social distancing, hand sanitising, the installation of protective breath-guard screens and the daily sanitisation of spaces and materials are guaranteed.

EVENTS

Also in winter 2020/21, several events and initiatives about food and local traditions will be organized for guests in Alta Badia. In order to meet safety regulations, we decided to organize them for a limited number of participants, in compliance with the current regulations against Covid-19 and to operate even more diligently as far as their details and quality are concerned. On December 20 and 21 the prestigious Ski World Cup races will take place on the Gran Risa slope.
